Minutes
Ron Teffaine - presented information about the new CPT-II, including information about its uses, important features, norms, reliability, and validity. A summary handout was provided for each psychologist. He also demonstrated to everyone how to operate the software, then gave tips about what to observe during the administration. Some of these tips can be found in the "Assessment" section of the discussion board for this website.
Dr. Bill Stevens - presented information about the TOVA to the group, and briefly demonstrated how the software worked. This software includes an external switch that the student must press, unlike the CPT-II, which requires the client to press a keyboard spacebar.
Gail Bobowski - from the Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba presented information about dyslexia to the group, including an instructional video and many handouts. The group had a lot of discussion about this topic. Ron Teffaine also provided a handout on dyslexia, as well as an article he had written about phonemic awareness.
Dr. Bill Stevens - presented a model of risk/threat assessment during the afternoon. He uses this protocol in Seine River school division. It is adapted from the model recommended by the FBI. The FBI document called "The School Shooter" can be downloaded from this website, under Resource Links - Threat Assessment.
Dr. Bill Stevens - offered to be the group's treasurer, and members decided to donate $5.00 per year to pay for coffee, donuts, and other expenses.
