IQ to Age and Grade Equivalents Tool - Use with caution for rough estimates only
The graph below can illustrate to parents and teachers the future difference in mental processing power predicted by a given Full Scale IQ or GIA. The green dashed line represents the average growth in intellect over the years. The black line represents the growth of a particular student's intellect based on his/her general IQ score. For IQs below average, the widening gap over the years demonstrates the increasing challenge that a student can face relative to most other peers in managing grade-level expectations. It also suggests the need for early intervention, diversifying instruction, EA support in class, alternative programs in high school, and at times, the need for curricular modifications or individualization. For students with above average IQs, teachers may diversify instruction by presenting more abstract concepts, increasing complexity, making assignments more challenging, enlisting them as peer tutors, providing various enrichment activities in alignment with their interests, and so on.
